Lao Airlines flights postponed Myanmar

National carrier Lao Airlines has rescheduled the opening of direct flights between Vientiane and Yangon in Myanmar at the end of next year after failing to open the route this month as previously announced.
Deputy General Manager of Commercial Department of the airline, Manivone Lattanavong, Vientiane Times said last week the new sector will be available in October next year.
The airline needs more time to develop your marketing plan to ensure the route is profitable, said Manivone. "The time is limited this year, and we have yet to develop a proper marketing plan," he said.
Manivone said tour operators usually make their reservations and travel plans a year before, so the airline has to work out your marketing plan with tour operators before the planned opening next year.
A senior company official told Vientiane Times, previously had a keen interest in the area of ​​Yangon but not directed only to passengers of Laos and Myanmar.
By contrast, the airline is studying the possibility of demand from China, the Republic of Korea and Japan, and anticipates the number of passengers over now that Myanmar has opened up to investment.
The planned opening of direct flights to Myanmar is part of the company's expansion plans to meet the growing demand for air transport in the region.
Lao Airlines recently announced that it will start direct flights from Vientiane to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, November 7 after canceling services in this sector in 2008.

The flights will be offered three times a week, departing on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
On October 27, the airline plans to start daily flights between Vientiane and Incheon in the Republic of Korea after the recent launch regular flights three times a week between the two cities. Previously only offered charter flights between the two cities.
